Woodford Income Focus Fund falls further

by | Feb 3, 2021

It was recently reported in The Sunday Times that the ASI Income Focus Fund, managed by Charles Luke and Thomas Moore of Aberdeen Standard Investments, has failed to revitalise its performance. Its failure has seen a 16% drop in a year, against a sector drop of 8%.

Is the real issue for investors not the performance of the current Fund Managers, but the three-year history of this fund’s performance under any name? At a return of just shy of negative 40% (sector average is negative 2.4%) and ranked 84 out of 84 tracked funds in its sector by Trustnet, does anyone have charge of this fund?

With an ‘on top’ of management fee at 1%, holding a position in this fund is an expensive exercise. With many better options out there – in different sectors as well – perhaps now is the time to move.
